Drips to the fore in water planning

From Ken Davidson, The Age, Apr 28 2008

Unless there is heavy rain in the Murray Darling Basin over the rest of the year, 90% of South Australians face environmental catastrophe caused by the movement of heavy metals in solution up the river by osmosis....Eildon is down to 14% capacity. Without heavy rains in the Goulburn catchment, the resevoir will be empty within months...Irrigators on the Goulburn who depend on water from Eildon Resevoir, have been allocated 850 gigalitres, even though only 460 gigalitres are left.
